Fawn Spotting

I was watching a Shibori DVD kindly loaned to me, and the narrator was explaining that the 'kanoko' in kanoko shibori means 'dots of a fawn', when I glanced out the window and who should appear but this fawn, who took a few nibbles from my crocuses and then climbed the steps on my front porch to curl up on my doormat! He or she kept me company for several hours, while I watched the deft hands of the skilled Japanese shibori makers, before foraging in my yard a bit more and wandering down the lane. Yesterday was typical early spring weather, with a mixture of rain
and sun. I notice the hole in the upper left corner of this photo, and the stripes, rectangles and angles

later appeared in this block I pieced while trying things I'm curious about - without it needing to go further.

I also happened upon a fibre art show in the gallery at Tulista park in Sidney - and I've been alerted to several more coming up in other locations. There seems to be more fibre art shows happening around here now - and it's great to see these blossoming along with spring!

Yvonne,
I, too, love being kept company by fawns. Don't we live in a great neighbourhood? (Although I might have a different opinion if I wanted a veggie garden!)

Yes, I love it here. The deer probably sense who likes having them around!

Penny - it was surreal!
