Felt Fun

I have been having such fun putting this felted piece together today, learning as I go about combining a variety of materials with my needle felting machine. I've begun hand stitching light and shadow on the leaves, now. And I also made some silk paper which is partially transparent when held up to the light.

And here is some wet felting and natural dyeing that may end up with these beads on it - or not.

Here's the whole of it:

I also natural dyed more silk shibori and over dyed other silk with eucalyptus leaves I picked last year -which only yielded slight colour.

just been wondering where you've been. you haven't blogged in quite awhile. hope all is well.

Thanks for asking, Deanna. I am well overall - although I have found sitting at the computer bothers one leg and I have been minimizing my time online. I am continuing to create with fabric and track what I do in a journal, though, and at some point I may continue with blogging - although I am finding that it's easier not to and frees up more time for other things, besides not aggravating my leg. I left a comment on your blog quite awhile ago, but it showed up under my partner's name - blogger does that sometimes if he's been using the computer before I've signed in. I still stay in the loop by checking what you and others are doing regularly - lovely and interesting work - but just have been a lurker!

Thanks, Jude. I love how felting is like watching cloth being born - and how it's so deeply part of our roots as the first fabric.

Greetings from Tunisia! I just happened upon your blog while surfing the net and trying to beat the heat. Sorry to hear you're not blogging much anymore. Your textile work/play is just beautiful and your experiments in dying are exciting.
best, nadia
