Snow and Show

Here is a close up of one of the fabrics from my last pail of snow dyeing: And another:
After rinsing these out, I spent most of yesterday at the sewing show, getting tips about sewing with silk, buying books and even finding a bit of Japanese fabric! I had also heard about a product called 'Magic Bobbin Washers' that are little teflon discs that fit in a machine bobbin and help prevent thread build up or nests, so I added those to my basket, too. The roof of the conference centre where the show was held had a cap of snow, this year:

There were icicles on the fountain in the courtyard, too, but the sun reached right into these water glasses casting shadows onto the white cloth.
All in all, an exhausting but profitable day.

i bought those 'magic bobbin washers' several years ago when i was doing lots of machine stitching. i found that sometimes they worked and sometimes not which had me wondering that maybe it's just the setting on my machine. hope you have good luck with them. hope you will post your experience.

My mom is in Victoria now, I have been laughing at her getting snow. She and my Ante were both going to the sewing show Saturday. Hope you had a good one. I love to shop at those shows. Let us know how the bobbin washer works. I have never tried them.

Deanna, thanks for sharing your experience with the bobbin washers. What kind of machine do you sew on?

Cathy, what a small world - and I bet your Mom was expecting to see alot more green! I haven't gotten to testing out the washers yet, but plan to and will post my thoughts.

Jude - yes!

Deanna, thanks - I imagine it might be hard to know if the washers are really doing a good job or if the machine would have been doing the same thing without them. Others in my machine class may have bought them too, so I'll keep my ears open for opinions. I asked about your machine type because it seems there's quite a variety between each one as to what they do and don't 'like'.
