This contemporary boro block is basted ready for stitch. It's a mix of linens, cottons, silk and velvet. The light triangles are natural dyed, although alot of detail is lost in this photo. And today's snow dye crop - kind of like watching a pot of water, waiting for it to boil....

exciting results, Yvonne
Snow dyeing, what fun! Thanks for sharing.
Snow dyeing? what kind of dyes did you use, chemicals or plant material like India Flint? I just got some eucalyptus leaves from California and want to try them, have you done something with plant materials?
Hi Lesley - yes, I'm thrilled and have done a bunch more fabrics with snow in 3 different colourways - one is still melting but the others are also great.
Hi Laura - yes it is fabulous to walk out on the deck and scoop snow just like that to experiment with.
Hi Herm - I used Procion MX dyes, but I have done a fair bit of natural dyeing (not with snow) and have found a few eucalyptus trees locally which gave different colour depending on the species. I got a bit of orange but not like what India gets. Natural dyeing is so fun - I now look at plants in a whole new speculative way :)
I love the idea of doing a whole series of traditional quilt blocks in boro. And your latest dyeing results are to dye for!
Thanks, Penny!
