Felt Feutre Fashion and Finishing

The sold out Felt Feutre fashion show was incredibly inspiring, as were the lectures I attended by Andrea Graham and Marjolean Dallinga.  My next 3 day 'Advanced Experimental' felting workshop was with Marjolean and what a journey that was.  We worked in silence without interrupting our process with any photos and really felt into our making without knowing where it was going, working back and forth between three different sculptures.  Marjolein makes costumes for the Cirque du Soleil and one of her pieces in the fashion show took a month of full days to complete.  Her mastery and method of teaching brought to mind the Nancy Crow workshop I took a few years ago - another steep learning curve, for me.  Although I worked hard, I did not quite finish my 3 sculptures but really felt I had made a huge leap in understanding how to move into 3D - and I was excited to explore further, once home!

'Embodied' is a combination of two of the sculptures I made in the class, with the addition of some stuffed velvet I dyed.
Here is a view from a different angle.
'Mood Rock' is the other sculpture I began in Marjolean's class and then completed fulling at home.  The shrinkage is always amazing to me - what starts out as large becomes compact and relatively small.  I was eager to start exploring and learning further.

I am eager to get the rest of the work I've done over the past half year posted so I can be current again. Thanks - the felt is engrossing - I wonder if you'd like it, too?
