Rebirth

This egg shaped embroidered flower linen has undergone some changes. I wove into it, removed the hem and frayed its edges, backed it with two pieces of linen, washed and quilted it.I like how it's come together. An altered embroidery - a rebirth.

OH! I love this and you've given me a fantastic idea. I have some embroidered linens that my great-grandmother did while my mom was pregnant with me. She never got to see me born... she passed on before that. But, I treasure each and everything handed down to me from my mom and grandmother. I'm named after her.

I love the way you have altered this cloth, really beautiful. I like the weaving, the colour combinations really enhance the cloth.

Whatever you make from the linens will be so precious - as they are. I have an embroidery that my mother started when I was little and after she died, my grandmother completed it. It is one of several pieces of handwork waiting in the wings for a cloth I have in mind and I like the idea of each of us having contributed to the stitching.

Judy - thankyou very much! I tried to leave a comment on your blog yesterday but for some reason it wouldn't work. I've been having this trouble with a few other blogs, too.
